The European Newsreal is a not-for-profit network from independent video makers and screeners. The ENR is a platform for people working towards positive social change. The ENR wants to connect local groups within Europe.

FENCELINE FILMS is a small video group based in the UK. These pages will bring together several projects made with and by people living with the impacts of environmental and social injustice. Alongside this, Fenceline Films participatory video workshops aim to give individuals or local groups the skills to plan and make their own films.

Activism meets art, information and education through entertainment - our work aims at being informative, entertaining, inspiring and empowering. Our hope is to convey hope, promote alternatives and ideas that facilitate positive change. However, we also recognise that video activism has two roles; not only to attempt fill the void left by filters of the mainstream media, but also a resonpsibilty to document events both as a historical record and also perhaps as evidence if required.




Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination

The Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination (lab of ii) is a collective of socially engaged artists and activists whose work falls in between resistance and creativity, culture and politics, art and life. We believe that playful forms of cultural intervention in everyday life and the development of convivial spaces that enable participants to cultivate full confidence in their own creative capacity are fundamental tools for social change.

Common Place Cinema

The Cinema Collective at the Common Place social centre in Leeds organise regular film screenings and talks. We have a 60 seat cinema, an extensive film library and an array of equipment that we lend to local community groups. We are currently working on putting together a full online film catalogue and transferring film from VHS to DVD. We organise our cinema on a quarterly basis - see our current Jan-March programme. The toolkit is now available to download from the home page and is free to copy under the creative commons not for profit license.

Kurdish Creative Film Centre


KCFC (formerly World Theatre Company, WTC) was founded in 2003 by Alan Amin as a response to the lack of cultural diversity and cultural representation in theatre companies in the UK. Alan Amin impressive CV includes a number of projects as the Artistic Director of the ‘Citizens Theatre Company’ in Iraq. In 2006 the Kurdish Creative Film Centre was founded in Manchester.
